Zidane, Garlet and Black Mages

For many, Final Fantasy VII is one of the absolute highlights of the entire game series. The 6th part as well as the 9th part are right behind it and now Square Enix has released a trailer for a crossover event between Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis and Final Fantasy IX, which will start on November 9th. The trailer also gives some interesting information, but what is Final Fantasy IX all about?

„Final Fantasy IX“ is a Japanese role-playing game that was released in 2000 by Square Enix (then Square Co., Ltd.) for the PlayStation. The game’s plot is set in a fantastical world called Gaia and follows the thief Zidane Tribal, who teams up with a group of unusual characters to rescue the princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII.

The story revolves around themes of identity, destiny and the importance of friendship. During the group’s journey, they learn more about the dark plans of the villain Kuja and the true nature of their world.

The sweet black mage Vivi is particularly popular among the main characters. There are also several evil variants of her that you will face in the course of the story.

These details are in the trailer

The trailer is set on one of the airships that are an integral part of the world of FFIX. It is probably the Cargo Ship, where you will face the last and most powerful of the three Black Waltz. So you are still relatively early in the story, although the action is already in full swing.

All three variants of the Black Waltz appear on the airship. These control the three basic elements of Fire, Ice and Thunder. You should therefore protect yourself accordingly. This is also a special feature compared to the previous events. These lasted two weeks and at the beginning there was only one final boss and in the second week a sub-form of this opponent was introduced. Will all three Black Waltz be released this time and after one week a completely different type of opponent? It would also be very possible for this event to run for three weeks this time and for a new Black Waltz to appear each week, thus continuing the story. The event would then run until the end of November and a new event could start at Christmas time.

The third piece of information is Cloud and Tifa. They are wearing a male and a female outfit of the thief Zidane. This will particularly please insiders, as Cloud holds the sword like Zidane. The main character of Final Fantasy IX was not the classic swordsman and damage dealer, but a thief with two daggers who is better known for his agility. The counterpart to Zidane is Princess Garnet, who fights as a mage and summoner. However, the outfit does not fit. It will be interesting to see what bonuses the new weapons and outfits will bring for Cloud and TIfa.

Is a Final Fantasy IX remaster or remake coming?

Two weeks ago, a notice was published stating that Wind would be effective in the next event. Probably nobody thought of the Black Waltz from Final Fantasy IX, which was actually vulnerable to wind in the original from over 20 years ago. In addition to Ever Crisis, there is also a crossover event with Final Fantasy IX in the other smartphone game War of the Vision. In addition, there is a large fan project that completely remakes Final Fantasy IX and you can already play the scenes from Alexandria in a preview.

With Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and Final Fantasy VIII Remaster, there is already a new edition or similar for ALL previous parts of the main series. So the question really arises as to whether Square Enix will soon announce a remaster or remake for Final Fantasy IX and is already beating the advertising drum or doing a lot of fanservice. In any case, all indications are growing!

Crossovers offer huge opportunities

With the crossover event, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is creating a huge new topic area. The calls from the community for new story content are getting louder and louder and there are guaranteed to be many more chapters released. The story of Final Fantasy VII is already extensive enough and with events from other games, the content will be much more. In addition to great classics such as Final Fantasy VI or IX, there are also other game series such as Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts.
